Department Manager Academy (DMA)


There are many areas of operations in which the department manager must be knowledgeable and skilled. Ordering products, scheduling and planning events, labor scheduling, setting retail prices, managing budgets, hiring, training and assessing associate performance. . All of these areas impact a manager’s ability to deliver store profits and customer satisfaction. All of these areas, and more, are addressed in a comprehensive training program that will allow participants to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their job without having to travel long distances or take time out of the store each week to learn and implement. Ongoing support during the training will help participant implement their new skills and knowledge. Students can take courses when they have time, without leaving their store, or attending instructor led classes. There are 3 modules to this course. Supermarket Math, Merchandising and Marketing and People Management. Each module takes 8 weeks to complete. Groups of students will be lead through a series of online classes and discussion, while applying the key skills through instructor assigned projects.
